Yikes, I wonder why some many people are following Britney Spears, let alone Ashton Kutcher. Many tweeps use Twitter as entertainment and for news rather than marketing.

I fell for two of those schemes to add followers, Tweetadder and Tweetfollow. No one seems to know how or if these services are connected to Twitter, but it's the quality, not quantity, of followers that counts.

If you're marketing your book or business, though, I don't want to hear about it 24/7. I'll quickly un-follow the shameless self promoters.

Kurt is correct; your content should shine. Don't tweet if you're going to tell me about going to McDonald's with the kids. If you have an article about social media to share, please do. Watch your spelling and grammar errors, even if you're not a writer/editor. Be professional, because you never know if your boss and colleagues are reading. I won't follow tweeps who put the F word in every other tweet. Make every tweet count.

People are following her just as people find a
reason to follow you. Online it seem we all have
a "fan" base.

It's okay personalize it a tad here and there to
connect with the followers. It'd about building a
connection so people can know, like and trust in
the individual.

Have an awesome day!

I think it all goes back to the premise that content is king. If you have good content, you're ultimately going to come out on top in the end.
